Is there a software designed to help a young person to learn to read and write?
I work with a young (13 years) who can barely read or write. He is very proud of the young man and as such prefers to hide behind the attack and calling everyone around him stupid. However, it is committed to the opportunity to try to learn, but I think it would really benefit from a kind of computer game or software that would not make him feel as if he was a baby, but would learn to read and write from a very basic level. Does anyone know of such software?
I would concentrate more on his behavior and try to bring down its barriers first. It is useless to try to teach or to help someone who will not help themselves. And you call a baby and this is not very favorable. It is not a baby, it is probably a very frustrated and confused boy who is the only way to express what he feels is anger and make others feel inferior. It is a slow process and will probably take much time, effort and patience. You must show that you're not there because you're self-interest and try to help help himself. But whatever you do, you should not make him feel he is stupid or like a little child, because you will just push him away.
